How Much Does a Mobile Sauna Cost in the UK?
Bespoke mobile sauna trailers in the UK start from £12,000. Because every mobile sauna is made to order, the final price depends on the size, heater type, timber, layout and finish you choose — so each build is quoted individually after a consultation.
What affects the price
There’s no single sticker price for a mobile sauna because no two are the same. The cost of a build is driven by a handful of choices, each of which moves the figure up from the £12,000 starting point:
- Size & capacity: a compact 2–4 person sauna uses less material and a smaller trailer than a 6–8 person commercial unit.
- Heater: wood-fired and electric heaters differ in cost, and higher-output commercial heaters add to it.
- Timber: the choice between Nordic spruce, thermowood and premium cladding affects both price and longevity.
- Layout & glazing: panoramic windows, glass frontage, a changing area and bench configuration all change the build.
- Finish & branding: exterior cladding, colour and business branding add cost but make the sauna the face of a business.
Wood-fired vs electric cost difference
The heater you choose affects both the upfront and the running cost. Wood-fired saunas need no power supply and run on logs, which makes them ideal for off-grid locations like beaches and fields; your ongoing cost is firewood and a little more setup time per session. Electric heaters are convenient where a hook-up is available, and their running cost moves with electricity prices. Which works out cheaper depends entirely on how and where you use the sauna.
Setup costs (tow vehicle, insurance)
The sauna is the main purchase, but it isn’t the only one. You’ll need a vehicle capable of towing it — see our towing and licensing guide for what that means in practice — and appropriate insurance. For a business, factor in public liability cover and trailer insurance from the outset.
Running costs (wood/electricity)
Day to day, the running costs are modest: fuel for towing, wood or electricity to heat the sauna, and routine maintenance to keep the timber and trailer in good condition. A well-built sauna that’s looked after holds up to years of use, which spreads the initial cost over a long working life.
